Mine Escaping

the Oilers

Metal, dust, and the desperate strength of someone with nowhere left to run.

I was involved from the briefing stage, proposing changes that made the scene more cinematic and intense. To emphasize Mine’s presence, I placed him mid-action with his hammer, turning the collapsing mine behind him into a core storytelling element rather than just a backdrop.

In the character design, I aimed for a blend of mechanical realism and emotional weight — merging the delicate animatronic feel inspired by Hugo with the raw power of heavy construction and agricultural machinery.

Some bodies are made of metal — but the will to survive is always human.

The artwork was divided into multiple independent layers, ensuring full flexibility for animation and post-production.

The result is a composition built on physicality, narrative clarity, and cinematic tension — designed to hold strong as a still image while gaining even more impact in motion.
